Artist Open Call- A Soft Inheritance
This is an open call for artists whose work has been influenced in some way by adoption. This may include people directly affected by adoption and those indirectly affected, like partners or loved ones.
Our Adoption Project: A Soft Inheritance is an adoptee-led, multidisciplinary arts exhibition that aims to explore adoption alongside a community-led workshop and discussion programme.
By making a space for reflection, storytelling, and creative perspectives, we aim to challenge traditional narratives surrounding adoption, which often distil lived experiences into shorthand. As an adoptee-led project, we believe that work engaging with adoption can examine themes of family and identity beyond the conventional framing.
We hope to broaden the conversation around this complex topic and foreground lived experience, allowing multiple viewpoints to coexist, opening up new possibilities of representation.
All visual art mediums are welcome, as well as text, recorded sound and video, and hybrid art forms
You can submit up to 3 works
You can submit from anywhere in the world, but please note that work must be posted to Manchester by 30th October 2026, and/or delivered in person by 10th November 2026. NB: You are responsible for your own postage costs.
You must be aged 18+ to submit artwork for safeguarding reasons
Submission & participation are completely free. Participation is considered voluntary, as we cannot guarantee compensation due to our funding
Submission deadline for artwork: 11th October
Confirmation of acceptance: 16th October
Exhibition Location : PINK Stockport
